On 7 October 2016, Turkey ratified the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement.
The same convention also covers cooperation on parental responsibility and child protection measures (hereinafter the 'Child Protection Convention') and the Hague Convention of 23 November 2007 on the International Recovery of Foods. intended for children and other family members (hereinafter, the 'Food Recovery Agreement').
These Conventions entered into force for Turkey on February 1, 2017. Turkey will become the 45th State to which the Child Protection Convention will apply and the 34th State to which the Maintenance Cover Convention will apply.
Lawyers in Turkey will now be able to cooperate in this legal framework.
However, some countries including Ivory Coast, Benin, Guinea, etc... have not ratified yet that Agreement.
